Vipassana meditation is the act of stopping. Sitting, silently without intention and allowing the mind to reveal its old story so we can see it, know it and make the space for the power of it to fall away. In this way we free ourselves from the past by not indulging the voices in our head that keep us continually facing the same direction and so repeating the same movements in life and of course meeting the same consequences. Such an important practice.
After a sitting meditation practice we continue with this loving awareness attitude by bringing it into every aspect of our life so that the training is consistent and not turned on and off like a light switch.
When we practice in this way we will see that meditation is life and life is meditation.
This is the correct way to train and so be free from the past.
